Shop Floor Coating Has To Grip When It Is Wet
A smooth gloss floor turns slippery the moment it gets wet, and a shop floor is wet for half the year. We broadcast an aggregate into the shop floor coating so it keeps its grip under slush, wash water and oil.
The texture can be adjusted by area. Wash bays and the area inside the overhead doors get a coarser grip, while parts rooms and offices get a lighter texture that is easier to sweep.
Shop Floor Coating Around Trench Drains And Doors
Trench drains, floor drains and the slab edge at the overhead door are where shop floors usually fail first. Water gets under the coating at the edge and lifts it from below.
We grind a key into the concrete along every drain and door edge so the shop floor coating locks into the slab instead of ending on top of it. Drains are sloped and cleaned out, and cracks around them are repaired before any coating goes down.
Shop Floor Coating For Heavy Equipment
Loaders, pickers and tracked equipment are much harder on a floor than pickups. For heavy equipment bays we use a thicker build and a harder topcoat, and we may recommend urethane cement in the wash bay where hot water and degreasers are used every day.
Many of the oilfield service shops in Gasoline Alley and the Blindman Industrial Park use this kind of floor. For fabrication and assembly areas, see our industrial epoxy flooring page.
