Most commercial floors in Central Alberta need some concrete floor repair before they can be coated. Clay soil, heavy loads and winter salt all take a toll on the slab, and every crack left unrepaired will show up again in the new floor.

Concrete floor repair starts by working out whether a crack is still moving. Moving cracks and joints get a semi rigid filler that can flex, and cracks that have stopped moving are cut open and filled solid. Lifted edges are ground flush so forklift wheels roll smoothly across them.

Concrete grinding opens up the surface of the slab so a coating can soak in and grip, and it is the first step on every floor we coat. We grind with diamond tooling on large planetary grinders and capture the dust with industrial vacuums at the source, so the building stays clean while we work.
Grinding also takes off old sealers, paint, glue and the weak top layer that forms on most slabs. On floors that only need a clean, flat surface, grinding on its own can be the whole job.
A coating will not fix a broken slab, so concrete floor repair is part of almost every coating job. Pitted floors are filled and levelled, salt damaged areas near the doors are resurfaced, and old patches that have come loose are cut out and replaced.
